Golf is a game of skill, patience, and precision—but it’s also a sport that demands long hours outdoors and a surprising amount of walking. Whether you’re playing a casual 9 holes or going the full 18, you could end up covering anywhere between 5 to 10 kilometers during a single round. And when the weather is warm or humid, that amount of movement can easily lead to one unwelcome problem: chafing.
Chafing, particularly on the inner thighs, is a common issue for golfers who walk the course. Add heat, sweat, and repetitive motion into the mix, and you’ve got the perfect recipe for sore, irritated skin.
Why Golfers Get Chafing
Although golf may not seem as physically intense as running or hiking, it involves constant movement. Walking up and down fairways, climbing in and out of bunkers, or trekking through rough terrain takes a toll—especially over 18 holes.

These soft, stretchy bands are designed to sit securely on your thighs, creating a barrier between the skin and preventing it from rubbing together. They’re discreet under golf attire and ideal for long walks in warm conditions. Unlike creams or powders that wear off, thigh bands stay in place and offer all-day protection.
- Choose Breathable Golf Wear
Opt for lightweight, moisture-wicking clothing made from performance fabrics. These materials help keep you dry and reduce the buildup of sweat that contributes to chafing. Avoid rough seams and ensure your clothing fits comfortably—not too loose and not too tight.
- Use Anti-Chafing Cream or Balm
If you prefer a topical solution, consider using an anti-chafing cream or balm before your round. Products with ingredients like aloe vera, shea butter, or petroleum jelly create a protective layer on the skin. Keep in mind, however, that many of these rub off over time, especially during longer rounds.
- Stay Hydrated and Dry
Bring a towel to dry off sweat if needed, and drink plenty of water throughout the day to regulate body temperature and minimize perspiration.
