Say No to Inner Thigh Chafing, Now!

Inner thigh chafing can be described as an injury to the skin induced by constant rubbing. Typically chafed inner thighs leads to itchy, stinging and painful sensations.  Chafed skin occurs on the body for a variety of reasons.  Inner thighs certainly are more prone to chafing as this is an area which is always active, enclosed, with great amounts of sweat and moisture.  When walking, running or performing any activity, your sweaty, salty thighs rub against each other constantly, making it a prime target for chafe.

How does chafing happen?

Hot and humid weather is mostly a high-risk time for chafing because sweaty, moist skin is prone to be damaged quite easily. When we sweat, salt and mineral crystals appear on the surface of the skin, after the sweat evaporates, these hard and sharp minerals get rubbed back and forth on our thighs, having a sandpaper effect.  When this happens our skin gets damaged and torn into, and over time horrible rashes appear, with a great amount of stinging and burning like sensation.

Detailed symptoms of inner thigh chafing

People suffering from inner thigh chafing often have damaged skin that is more susceptible to irritation. Tenderness and inflammation could make walking very difficult for the sufferers. Some of the symptoms faced could be:

  • Persistent itch
  • Raw inner thigh skin
  • Stinging sensation
  • Pain and discomfort
  • Vesicles and blisters
  • Boils
  • Inflammation
  • Bleeding
  • Leaking puss in extreme cases

Are you facing these torturous symptoms and wondering how to keep yourself safe from chafing? Here is a comprehensive guide to help you to have no more chafe:

1. Stay high on water: Staying hydrated could be one of the surprising tricks to keep the chafe at the bay. Drink lots of water before you start a heavy session of exercise. Keeping the water tab high during the workout allows you to sweat smoothly, with less salts and minerals, this therefore hinders the chafing process.

2. Don’t be damp: Keep patting the skin dry whenever you can, so that the moisture does not set in. Cornstarch could be a great way to maintain dryness naturally. You might think that baby powder could be helpful. However, it might be best to stay away from that, as baby powders have been associated with ovarian and uterine cancers.

3. Healthy moisture: Lubrication is critical for people with an active lifestyle such as walkers, runners, and cyclists. You would have tried a variety of products available in the market that claim to cure chafing. Plain petroleum jelly might be a good choice. Most lubricants are laden with chemicals and they might aggravate your skin even more. After you pat your skin dry, rub some petroleum jelly in the inner thigh area. Just be aware that this may not stay on forever, and will therefore need to be re-applied.

4. Invest in appropriate Protective Wear: One might feel that loose clothing is the ideal attire for workouts. However, in the garment category, what might permanently save you from chafing is a great quality pair of Silicone Thigh Bands. A good pair of anti-chafing thigh bands create an effective physical barrier that protects your thighs when rubbing against each other. Silicone thigh bands are created to stay in their place all day long no matter how aggressive your lifestyle is. Thigh bands keep you safe from chafing while you run, jump, skip, bend, squat, jog,  anything you want to do.

In most cases, chafe must get soothed within the day, when you first contract it, otherwise it cannot heal properly. If the symptoms persist with no signs of improvement, a good idea would be to consult a doctor. Always watch out for the following signs:

  • Redness growing from the initial chafing mark
  • Increased swelling
  • Fever and hot skin around the wound
  • Bleeding and exuding pus
  • A wet, raw wound that does not seem to heal.

Your health care provider can prescribe an antibiotic ointment for you in case they see signs of infection.  It is always best to avoid this from happening entirely, so the number #1 choice for you would be to get a pair of No More Chafe - Thigh Guards.
